Adding décor to your new kitchen

Your kitchen cabinets are a large part of the interior design and act as a main focal point of the room. Whether they're wood or metal, modern or contemporary, you can choose custom cabinets that go with any style you have in mind. But once you have your cabinets picked out, they can benefit from decorations.

Consider using artwork

If you have a large amount of space above your cabinets, consider hanging art on the wall. Be sure to hang it very high so it's visible throughout the space.

Don't have too much
Too many decorative items on top of your cabinets can look cluttered and overwhelming. After all, you don't want to take away from your beautiful cabinetry.

Start with one large item
Start with a larger decorative piece that will be your focus, and place it slightly off center. From there, you can add to the theme with objects that are related by color and/or style.

Of course, if you choose to have highly decorative mouldings in your custom kitchen design, you should keep other décor to a minimum. Your eyes need a place to rest at each "important" design element.
