One set of holidays is over and another is just about to start. While we've left Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa behind for the year, we've still got to see the year itself off before we're done celebrating. So grab your second wind and consider these super fun Do-It-Yourself (DIY) New Year's ideas.
Remodel your kitchen
Is one of your New Year's resolutions to add a little more style to your kitchen design? Go the DIY route in your remodeling plans. Start by hitting up a flea market or thrift store. Seek out discounted used furniture and bring it home to refurbish and redesign yourself! With a little sandpaper, wood finish and paint, you can turn an old chair, dresser or side table into your own personalized fixture!
Improve your storage
Speaking of great storage like a side table or dresser, another New Year's decision you may want to make is to improve your storage, once and for all. While some of this is certainly DIY - building new shelving, refurbishing bureaus, etc. - you'll want to leave a few things to the professionals. Consider how your closet organization can be improved. Or, take a look at your kitchen and where custom cabinets might improve your style and storage equally. Even the pantry could use a makeover!
